Comments on Obama’s Acceptance Speech

These are my own screenshots btw.  Please CNN.  Try not to kill me for posting these up!

Jason (my roommate): Whoa, it’s Ebony and Ivory! LOL

Bullet Proof Glass!  Protects from those little puny wholes in the skyscrapers.

Obama: Ann Nixon Cooper is 106 years old.  She was born just a generation passed slavery.  A time when there were no cars on the road or planes in the sky.  When someone like her couldn’t vote for two reasons — because she was a woman, and because of the colour of her skin.

Well you’re WRONG OBAMA!  There WERE CARS BACK in 1902!

Obama’s Acceptance Speech

Obama
“If there is anyone out there, who still doubts that America is a place where all things are possible; who still wonders if the dreams of our founders is alive in our time; who still questions the power of our democracy; tonight, is your answer.”

“There’s not a liberal America and a conservative America; there is the United States of America.  There’s not a black America and a white America and Latino America and Asian America; there is the United States of America!”

“What began 21 months ago in the depths of winter must not end on this autumn night.  This victory alone is not the change we seek; it is only the chance for us to make that change.  And that cannot happen if we go back to the way things were.  It can’t happen without you, without a new spirit of service, without a new spirit of sacrifice.  So let us summon a new spirit, of patriotism, of responsibility.”

“To those who will tear the world down, we will defeat you.  To those who seek peace and security, we support you.  And to all those who have wondered if America’s beacon still burns as bright, tonight we prove once more that the true strength of our nation, comes not from the might of our arms or the scale of our wealth, but from the enduring power of our ideals: democracy, liberty, opportunity and unyielding HOPE.”

“This is our moment.  This is our time.  To put our people back to work and open doors of opportunity for our kids; to restore prosperity and promote the cause of peace; to reclaim the American Dream and reaffirm that fundamental truth — that out of many, we are one; that while we breathe, we hope, and where we are met with cynicism, and doubt, and those who tell us that we can’t, we will respond with that timeless creed that sums up the spirit of a people: Yes We Can!”

I need to hire his speech writer.

Colbert mentions Waterloo!

by Nathan | October 28th, 2008 | 1 Comment

Colbert: “You hear that?  John McCain guarantees victory, and there is no better place to guarantee victory than WATERLOO”

Fine… so it’s the wrong Waterloo.  But I still cheered.  Haha.

Randoms #2

So a few quick blurbs to keep this updated.

I’ve been following The Daily Show and the Colbert Report throughout this whole American political campaign and though their opinions and their statements are made to blatantly to make fun of the press and the politicians, I’m finding more and more truths to what they have to say.  Honestly… a lot of their sarcastic statements are actually very down-to-earth and true.  why should we (Edit: Oh gosh, I’ve turned American) vote someone into office if the people just find them funny.

Oddly enough, Canadian politics are hardly ever spoken about.  (It was a while before I even FOUND OUT that an election was coming up).  And I’m finding that Stephen Harper is running our country GOOD-ENOUGH that our politicians and our media don’t make much comedy out of it.  Heck, I barely know anything about Canadian politics and I’m satisfied with it (which… might not be a good thing).  I just hate the heck out of Stephan Dion for unknown reasons.

Let me quote these few sentences from John McCain, cuz I laughed so frickin’ hard.  And note, these are all taken out of context and out of order, and totally should not be taken as advice or whatnot, but STILL:

“The fundamentals of this package are good, they’re strong”
“It shows the incredible influence of lobbyists and special interests”
“I think that this plan will produce a profit”
“Its insanity and obsenity because its a waste of taxpayers’ dollars”
“The taxpayers will be paid back first, which is an important provisionist bill”
“This is inside the belt-weight chronism of the worst kind”
“Coming back to Washington, getting the Republicans at the table”
“These pork-barrel projects, these outrageous procedures”
“Improving the bill”
“Its terrible, it really is corrupting”
“And I believe it will pass”

Jon Stewart: (Shows picture of Gollum):
“We LOVES the bill, we hates the bill, we LOVes, HATES”
“That is an UNFAIR JOKE” (shows picture of Gollum and John McCain in very similar portraits)
“Its an unfair joke, because Gollum is an old man on his quest for ultimate power and…”

HAHA.  Oh so great.

My last comment: Apparently, (story from the media) people still seem to believe that Obama might be a Muslim!? That just absolutely BLOWS my mind.  JUST because of that, I’d totally hate to be on the Republican side, because it just seems like anyone voting in that regard is the most ignorant person alive.

Anyway, that’s my quick political blurb.
